Sakura Sky launches innovation lab in Sydney

Media and entertainment incubator for innovation technology and entrepreneurship

Enterprise technology consultancy firm, Sakura Sky, opened its first media and entertainment incubator in Sydney.

The lab is dedicated to innovation, technology and entrepreneurship and is aimed at encouraging ventures in media and entertainment.

Sakura Sky Media chief technology officer, Andrew Stephens, said Australia is seriously lacking a media and entertainment facility that enables local organisations to take their technology to the world.

“We hope to fill this gap. By grouping similar, complimentary business together, the Lab will provide outstanding opportunities for networking, growth and development for participants.

“Our Innovation Lab will aim to create new businesses through a mix of co-working spaces, funding assistance, technical services, mentoring, feedback and support. It will foster commercially-sustainable activities and encourage deep interactions among both aspiring and experienced entrepreneurs across the Australian landscape.”

The group said it will fund and develop the facility using experience gained working with clients such as Fairfax Media, Sony Music Australia and Val Morgan.

Applications for places at the facility will begin in January 2015.
