HP gets into PC gaming with Omen

PC vendor releases a high performance notebook aimed at gamers.

HP is entering the PC gaming space with its Omen high performance notebook.

HP personal systems consumer category manager, Jeff Woodhouse, said the growth of the PC gaming space encouraged the vendor to release Omen.

“Gamers play to win and expect their PCs to do the same,” he said.

The 15.6-inch notebook PC comes with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics card and Intel Core i7 quad core processor.

Woodhouse said Omen will come to Australia on November 17 at a starting price of $2199.

Retail and channel

JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Normal will be the main retail launch partners, and the notebook will also be available to the channel.

Omen will be available in five different models, where the processor will be the same for all but the RAM (8GB or 16GB) and hard disk (256GB and 512GB) configurations are different.

All notebook variations have same GeForce GTX video card, though the higher end one will come 4GB of memory and the lower end at 2GB.

Omen-branded accessories such as the X9000 gaming mouse and backpack are available now at $69.95 and $89.00 respectively.
