In an expected move, iCITA’s hybrid enterprise datacentre infrastructure network, Hypernode, has deployed inside Equinix’s Sydney SY2 and SY3 datacentres, and will occupy the Melbourne ME1 International Business Exchange (IBX) once it opens later this year.

Hypernode hit the market on August 14 promising to ensure partners can avoid the common pitfalls of complex migration scenarios by providing a platform for public, private, or hybrid Cloud environments, alongside a range of consultancy-backed services.

Equinix’s facilities will host Hypernode’s platform to deliver disaster recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) to service the channel in Australia and abroad. It was previously housed in iCITA’s privately-owned Central Coast datacentre.

Hypernode is Equinix’s second ME1 customer; on September 23, Telstra confirmed it has invested in deployments inside SY3 and ME1.

According to Equinix Australia managing director, Jeremy Deutsch, Hypernode’s presence inside SY2, SY3, and ME1 will allow it offer companies a number of failover location options in case of a disaster.

iCITA said in a statement, “While Hypernode has been providing disaster recovery to the channel as part of its service catalogue, its availability in ME1, SY2 and SY3 enables its enterprise-grade Cloud-based solutions to be offered at a cost-effective price point.”

“Asia-Pacific (APAC) is an important geography for Hypernode’s future growth plans,” iCITA chief executive, Damien Stephens, said. “By working closely with Equinix we have been able to go to market faster and provide access to global locations with a consistent delivery experience.”

“Choice also played a key part in our partner selection. With more than 1,000 network providers currently housed inside Equinix, it offers the largest choice.”

Moving forward, Hypernode will draw on China Telecom’s tier 1 connectivity to enable its expansion into greater APAC, as outlined by chief technology officer (CTO), Josh Tipping
