Telstra extends Cloud infrastructure services to the USA

Telco adds seventh location to its network

Telstra has extended its Cloud presence to a seventh location, with the telecommunications provider announcing new Cloud infrastructure services on the east coast of the United States.

This adds to existing capacity in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia.

Telstra head of network applications and services, Martin Bishop, claims the extension will allow customers to benefit from efficient enterprise Cloud services for global operations with access to 1900 points of presence (POPs)

“When it comes to IT projects, we are finding that customers are increasingly opting for Cloud-based services and with this expansion we are even better equipped to serve organisations with operations in the US, be it their long-term headquarters or a new market they are expanding into,” Bishop said.

“We have a consistent approach to technology, service and application performance, which means our customers can seamlessly deploy applications and deliver business processes across multiple geographic locations.”

In March, Telstra announced it would leverage Cisco’s InterCloud platform to assist its clients with Cloud requirements.

At the time it revealed it would build an infrastructure with Cisco that provisions Cloud and networks services in real-time.
