Service integrator, CSC, has entered into a reseller agreement with datacentre vendor, Zellabox.
Under the agreement, CSC will offer Zellabox Micro Data Centre solutions to its prospective and existing customers such as BHP Billiton.
The company claims the Micro Data Centre is a cost effective, easily installed facility that provides the infrastructure of a conventional server room in a portable, self contained cabinet. Zellabox began operating in Western Australia last year.
CSC director of managed computing services, Danny Willmott, said the partnership opens up a lot of opportunities for us and our existing clients.
“It also presents new opportunities in the market place for people who need a micro datacentre,” Willmott said. “We’re always looking for opportunities to add value to our clients.”
Depending on user needs, the units cost up to $45,000 for an outright purchase.
“We believe there’s a significant demand in the market for this kind of product,” he said. “We’ve had about 80 enquiries from a broad range of organisations so far.”
The Micro Data Centre is ideal for users in remote locations such as mine sites, offshore drillings rigs, regional banks and metropolitan or regional offices.
