I think wireless will be very complementary to the NBN. People want the Internet wherever they are and there will always be a place for wireless. If you have applications that need 100Mbps or 1Gbps in the future, then you’re probably going to need a fixed network at home, but wireless will always be complementary to fixed. I don’t see us as being in competition with the NBN in anyway.
What’s your take on ISP-level content filtering?
It’s somewhat inevitable and the industry has to find a way to live with it. There’s some content everyone finds objectionable, where there’s no argument, and there’s going to be areas where people disagree. It’s got to be done in a way that doesn’t impose too much cost on the industry but doesn’t impose an extra cost on customers.
What other trends do you see influencing the market over the next 12 months?
I think we’re going to see an acceleration of the fixed-line migration: People are going to continue to cancel their fixed lines in favour of wireless voice and broadband. We’re going to see an explosion in wireless broadband services as well.
