Uptime goes the extra millimetre -- into your ear

Headset maker Jabra appoints fourth Aussie distributor

Wireless headset vendor, GN Jabra, has tapped Uptime Distribution to join existing partners LAN Systems, Cellnet and Brightpoint on its books.

Uptime managing director, Tony Geagea, said the Jabra product would slip into the Uptime mix of products quite easily.

"Of all the opportunities we've come across recently, this one fits the most seamlessly into our portfolio," he said. "Up until today we provided unified communications that ended at the phone. Now we can do that extra millimetre into your ear."

Geagea said that with Uptime having an increasing focus on IP telephony and unified communications, it has another weapon in its arsenal for resellers involved in complete telephony or call centres.

The Jabra range incorporates corded, wireless and Bluetooth headsets.

Jabra greater Pacific region managing director, Tom Vukovic, said the vendor wanted to sell more product in Australia but declined to name targets.

"We see the unified communications market as growing dramatically and we want to be well positioned," he said. "We want to be sure of our distribution as we make a push in this area and were particularly impressed with Uptime's Microsoft relationship."

Microsoft has been working on unified communications applications in recent years, notably Office Communications Server 2007 and Office Communicator 2007.
