Fastly
US-based cloud platform provider Fastly has opened up shop in Australia with internet engineering veteran Mark Nottingham at its helm.
The edge computing specialist has established four points of presence on both Australian coasts and now currently works with Seven West Media, Kogan, Network 10 and NRL to speed up their content service delivery.
The platform works by processing customers’ applications at the edge, according to Fastly.
The company initially launched two points of presence in Australia in 2015, but has now doubled down on its footprint by bringing Nottingham over from the US to act as principal engineer.
Nottingham is the co-chair of working groups HTTP and QUIC within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and has previously held senior roles at companies such as BEA Systems, Rackspace, Akamai Technologies and 1990s ISP Connect.com.au. He will now be based in Fastly's new office in Sydney.
He is joined by Andrew McGregor, who will serve as performance measurement lead, having previously worked at Google and Allied Tellsis Labs. The provider now has six people working in Australia.
