Ingram Micro Australia is adding Finnish-based data security vendor Blancco Technology to its portfolio.
The software product suite specialises in data erasure and mobile device diagnostics, offering techniques to erase data from computers, hard drives, solid state drives, servers, flash media, printers and phones.
According to Ingram, the technology is compliant with government regulations, for example when there is a requirement for data to be wiped from devices.
Instances of this include when repairing or returning a product that may be faulty, migrating from on-premises to the cloud or retiring older systems.
The software also comes with a certificate of proof to further substantiate government compliance.
Ingram SVP country chief executive Felix Wong called it a strategic step for Ingram Micro, saying the distributor has been using Blancco products within its CLS (commerce and lifecycle services) division to securely erase devices being returned for repair or to be resold.
“We’re now able to offer the same solutions to all our channel partners who can rest assured that they, and their customers will 100 per cent compliant with data erasure laws not only in Australia, but around the world,” Wong said.
Blancco president of global sales Alan Bentley added Ingram’s size and speed to market were a couple of the deciding factors that led to signing them up.
“We are looking forward to working with Ingram Micro to enable the channel to generate new revenue streams and offer news products of differentiation through secure data erasure with the Blancco suite of products,” Bentley said.
