Datacom wins $33M contract with the ACCC

Managed services deal will span three years

Datacom has won a $33-million contract with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) following an open tender.

The three-year deal will see the New Zealand-headquartered provider offer ICT managed services to enable the consumer watchdog to run its “everyday functions”.

Specifically, the provision will cover service desk, end-user computing, storage and back-up, mid-range, network infrastructure communications and cross-platform services as the agency evolves into cloud-based services.

The cross-platform component will be applicable to all the technology services, including service and security management.

Datacom has worked with the ACCC since March 2012, when it first won a contract to provide managed services. The deal, spanned seven years with the total contract value reaching $51.9 million.

Six months later, it also won a human resources deal valued at $600,000, which reached a value of $2.3 million over four years.

Also in 2012, the service provider was also hired to manage and deliver the contact service for the ACCC’s Scamwatch reporting line.

“ACCC is a valued client and we are delighted for the opportunity to continue our relationship,” Tom Scicluna, Datacom’s head of professional services and ACT region lead, told ARN.

“Our new contract, while reinforcing the strength of our seven-year relationship, also underpins new ways of working by supporting ACCC’s evolution to cloud based services.”

Datacom’s latest win follows the launch of its hybrid cloud services from the newly-built North Queensland Regional Data Centre (NQRDC).

At the end of last year, the company also rolled out its smart council and community cloud solution, Datascape, for the Western Australia Shire of Manjimup.
