Emt Distribution brings ReFirm to A/NZ

The vendor's Centrifuge Platform secures devices and IoT deployments

Cyber security software specialist, Emt Distribution has struck up a new partnership with US-based IoT and firmware security vendor, ReFirm to the Australian and New Zealand market.

This partnership marks ReFirm’s entrance into the region, which will see it introduce its Centrifuge Platform. The platform aims to secure an organisation’s devices and IoT deployments, and according to the vendor, it requires no source code, providing continuous monitoring, API integration and actionable reporting.

Emt’s knowledge of the cyber security market, long-term relationships with channel partners and technical expertise, were a few of the key attributes that ReFirm CEO Derick Naef pointed out.

Emt will work with partners to market and support the platform, which can help counter cyber threats to IoT devices - from routers and security cameras, to light bulbs and refrigerators, the distributor said. Partners can also access Emt’s resources such as accessing demonstrations, pre-sales engineering and solutions implementation.

“ReFirm Labs lines up with our focus on sourcing and delivering innovative solutions for cyber security vulnerabilities that mainstream technologies don’t address,” Emt Distribution CMO Scott Hagenus said. “The fact that organisations with a heavy reliance on IoT devices can vet firmware images for vulnerabilities in around 30 minutes, without requiring source code, brings confidence to the choices they make.”

Hagenus told ARN, the new addition sees Emt extend its offerings in the vulnerability assessment space and into the IoT sector.

“With the proliferation of IoT in business, it is important to make sure that the devices you are investing in, are as secure as they can be,” he said. “The opportunities are there because people haven’t been putting much effort into this space in this region. Making a solution like this easy and accessible enough to promote and sell to large IoT users, creates a lot of opportunities for partners to jump on board.”

In February, Emt was appointed as a new distributor for business risk intelligence firm, Flashpoint, further bolstering their cyber security portfolio.
