Technology retailers continue to dominate NSW Fair Trading’s monthly Complaints Register list, with Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Kogan, Apple, Samsung Electronics and Android Enjoyed all being named among the top 10.
The latest tally – the first for 2018 – saw electronics and home goods retail giant, Harvey Norman take the top spot in January, with 39 complaints to NSW Fair Trading against its name.
The Good Guys, came in third, with 34 complaints against its name. The retailer, which was acquired by JB Fi-Fi in late 2016, was followed by Kogan with 33 complaints, Apple with 30 complaints, Samsung with 29 complaints and Android Enjoyed claiming 19 complaints.
Further down the list, which typically names traders that are the subject of 10 or more complaints to NSW Fair Trading in a calendar month, was JB Hi-Fi, with 14 complaints against its name.
Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Samsung, Apple and Android Enjoyed are frequently featured in the monthly tally, with all five of the retailers appearing on the list for December 2017, along with Kogan, which has only just started to appear on the tally.
“A total of 22 businesses featured in the latest Register, with a substantial 431 complaints between them,” NSW Fair Trading Commissioner, Rose Webb, said.
“This represents a significant rise in the number of complaints compared to last year’s January register, with 332 complaints for the same number of businesses,” she said.
NSW Fair Trading handles around 50,000 complaints every year, and remains committed to informing consumers about traders attracting high numbers of complaints each month.
“The publication of this complaint data gives businesses a strong incentive to provide better customer service and empowers consumers to make more informed decisions about where to shop,” Webb said.
