Ingram Micro has announced the addition of IBM software to its portfolio in Australia, adding to the distributor's existing hardware agreement.

As a result, Ingram Micro’s partners will have access to the vendors’ full suite of end-to-end solutions.

Specifically, the distributor will focus on IBM software-defined storage, security and mobility, hybrid cloud, social platforms, analytics and cognitive solutions, which will open up a new raft of opportunities for the development and delivery of custom services by its channel partners.

The agreement represents a wide-ranging opportunity for Ingram resellers, who will now have full access to IBM’s solutions, according to chief country executive Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), Felix Wong.

“IBM software is a natural addition to our broad solution-based portfolio here at Ingram Micro,” Wong said. “It is an exciting time for software as connectivity to the internet of things comes to the fore in developers’ solutions."

"IBM’s cloud and AI solutions also help customers’ data better work for them. We have added the full suite of end-to-end IBM solutions here at Ingram Micro and are excited to bring these to our reseller partners."

The full suite of IBM products is available through the distributor, the IBM team and via Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace.

"IBM recognises the value that Ingram Micro brings as an IBM value add distributor and we are pleased that Ingram Micro can now offer the complete set of IBM systems and software offerings to their growing ecosystem," IBM A/NZ general manager, global business partners, Nigel Peach, added.

"The combination of the core Ingram distribution capabilities and the Ingram Cloud Marketplace offers IBM a very large ecosystem of VARs, ISVs MSP/CSPs and other next generation IBM Business Partners to reach new IBM markets and new clients for IBM offerings."

In late November, Ingram's Cloud Marketplace has doubled its user numbers in less than a year, surpassing two million active seats.

Cloud Marketplace services about 45,000 resellers from more than 40 countries, including Australia and New Zealand.

“Passing two million active seats not only demonstrates the breadth and scale of the Cloud Marketplace, it also shows the confidence our partners have in our platform and ecosystem,” Ingram Micro global cloud channel senior vice president, Renee Bergeron, said in a post on the distributor’s website at the time.
