David Charlton
Tech Data has appointed David Charlton as director of business innovation across Australia and New Zealand, recruiting the distribution veteran from telephony reseller, ABTC Group.
In this role, Charlton will drive net-new supplier business across the data centre and next-generation technology sectors, focusing on technologies such as cloud, mobility, security, networking and the Internet of Things (IoT).

With over 20 years of experience across the local channel, Charlton has held numerous leadership roles including general manager and national sales manager with Ingram Micro, and national sales manager with Sato International.
Charlton joins Tech Data following a six-month stint as CEO of telephony reseller, ABTC Group, operating as one of Australia’s largest supplier of telephone peripheral products.
As reported by ARN, Charlton was tasked with driving growth across ABTC Group’s existing portfolio within the ICT hardware, peripherals and solutions space, as well as introducing the privately held company to new complimentary markets and verticals.
Charlton joins Tech Data amid a search for a new leader locally following the departure of Darren Adams in July, with Costigan currently serving as interim general manager of the A/NZ business while a permanent replacement is recruited.
