Australian cloud infrastructure provider, Joviam, is set to take on the United States market after launching its services out of San Francisco.
The infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider, which counts Equinix and Megaport among the vendors with which it partners, launched its new US services from Equinix’s SV2 data centre in Silicon Valley.
The Sydney-based company hopes the move will help bolster its aim of doubling its size in the 2018 financial year.
“While we’ve been serving a global customer base since our inception, the launch of our US-based operations allows us to play a more prominent role in the world’s largest cloud market, while providing us with access to a much larger customer base” Joviam director and co-founder, Gabriella Jarrett, said.
“More importantly, our localisation in the US allows us to meet the demand for flexible enterprise-grade cloud computing that doesn’t force SMBs into lock-in scenarios.
“This means they can build their businesses with best-of-breed technologies that suit their operations, while also eliminating key concerns surrounding cloud computing – in the case of the US, latency, data sovereignty and compliance,” she said.
Already, the cloud start-up has started making a name for itself both in the local market and abroad, being named as one of only four ‘Cool Vendors’ in the Gartner ‘Cool Vendors in Cloud Infrastructure, 2017’ report – and the only Australian company to bear that honour.
As a tech start-up, Joviam has been self-funded to date, but the claims to have already received interest from US-based venture capital firms.
Such interest may come in handy, with the company’s broader, medium-term expansion goals seeing it eye up Europe and Asia over the next two years.
