VMtech and Telstra win big at Equinix awards

Both companies win a number of gongs at the vendor’s Asia-Pacific and Japan partner awards

Virtual Machine Technology (VMtech) and Telstra have emerged tops at Equinix’s first Asia-Pacific partner awards. Telstra and VMtech Australia both took home several awards, including the Star Award, which recognises the top three partners with the highest number of deals closed in a 12-month period.

Equinix said VMtech won this award for delivering best-fit hybrid cloud infrastructure with enterprise connectivity and cyber security while Telstra took home the gong for providing business and government customers with innovative technology solutions and network application services.

In addition to the Star Award, Equinix said VMTech Australia won the Best Innovation Award for demonstrating the highest levels of innovative thinking when leveraging Equinix capabilities to meet a customer challenge. “As a hybrid cloud solutions specialist, VMtech helps customers transform and automate their business for greater agility with business-aligned, scalable and flexible IT solutions,” it mentioned.

VMtech CEO, Len Findlay, said the awards are a testament to the efforts of the company.

“Being recognised by Equinix for its Star and Best Innovation awards is particularly meaningful as it reinforces the commitment we made in innovating on the Equinix platform with our VMtech MultiCloud solution,” Findlay said.

“In addition, the award is a boost for our team to know that their work is regarded as some of the best in the industry.”

Telstra also nabbed the Top Performance Partner Award for delivering the highest value of closed deals in Australia, Hong Kong and Japan and also took home one of four regional New Logo Champion Awards for successfully bringing in the highest number of new customer logos.

Equinix Australia managing director, Jeremy Deutsch, said the awards recognise channel partners in Asia-Pacific that have played a major role in accelerating its business in 2016.

“At Equinix, we strongly believe that the channel provides us with the reach to scale revenue and increase market share, and the solid progress in our channel and partner programs in Australia and APAC more broadly, has proven this to be true,” he said.

“The Equinix Partner Awards – Asia-Pacific are a reflection of that philosophy in action. We congratulate Telstra and VMtech for their continued partnership and innovation and look forward to unlocking even more opportunities together in the future.”

Deutsch also mentioned that moving forward, the company will be investing in “best-of-breed” tools and systems to foster productivity and support its partners, as the percentage of corporate bookings from partners has increased from single digits in 2014 to over 16 per cent of sales in 2016.

Most recently, Equinix opened its fifth Australian datacentre to promote growth in the New South Wales region and took the top spot across all four Cloudscene quarterly leaderboards for North America, EMEA, Oceania and Asia.

As for VMtech, the local hybrid cloud solutions provider recently struck a multi-year strategic deal to deliver a comprehensive managed security service to industry super fund-owned ME Bank.

Telstra, on 28 June, inked a memorandum of understanding with Australian cyber security partner, Tesserent, to make a push into the SMB market and on 2 June, partnered with Schneider Electric and building and engineering firm, FKG Group, to establish a new $40 million data centre in Toowoomba.
