Kate Burleigh
Kate Burleigh has resigned from her role as Intel managing director across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), exiting the tech giant after 20 years.
Burleigh, who was in the role for around five years, will finish up in the business on 30 June with Intel expected to announce a replacement for the role in the coming weeks.
Burleigh began her career at Intel in 1996, where she held several different roles, culminating in five years leading the A/NZ teams as managing director, helping the vendor step away from its PC-focused heritage.
"Kate brought a new energy and creativity to the role," Intel Asia-Pacific and Japan regional sales group general manager Jerry Tsao said.
"Under her leadership, Intel’s impact extended well beyond our traditional customer base and channels. We thank Kate for the passion and dedication she showed Intel and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavours."
Prior to taking on the role as A/NZ managing director, Burleigh was marketing director for more than six years, working across the organisation as a PR manager, Internet marketing manager, Asia Pacific regional Centrino product manager, enterprise marketing manager, and retail sales and marketing manager.
"When I took over the helm [at Intel], the market was extremely tough," Burleigh said previously. "Intel was a little blindsided with just how fast tablets were taking off, and we weren’t ready with our own solutions.
"So I was tested out on actually managing through some quite difficult times very early on, so part of me thought, ‘bad timing’.
"But, in hindsight, it was quite a good opportunity for me to get involved in setting the agenda and strategy, and putting plans in place to navigate the teams through a difficult patch. Now I feel we have come out the other end of that."
Throughout her time at Intel, Burleigh - who was inducted into the ARN Hall of Fame in 2014 - also advocated for boosting the STEM agenda in Australia, supporting the need for smart government policy and leadership on technology and innovation.
"Although it is incredibly hard to leave such a fantastic company and so many great people, the time seems right for me to make a career change and pursue opportunities outside of Intel," Burleigh added.
"I have been privileged to be at the centre of technology transformation thanks to Intel and trust I will have the chance to apply my passion for innovation in my future career."
