IoT company, Freestyle Technology, has launched its R&D IoT Innovation Centre in Melbourne, creating 150 highly-skilled tech jobs in Australia.
The R&D IoT Innovation Centre is expected to drive Freestyle Technology’s aggressive growth targets in the Asia-Pacific market. Freestyle estimates that by 2018, it will bring in $250 million to $300 million in foreign sourced income back into the country.
Freestyle Technology CEO, Mohan Jesudason, said the Internet of Things is set to change lives and that he’s excited to lead an Australian company as it takes its technology to the world.
“The Internet of Things is set to revolutionise our lives with more devices today communicating over the net than there are people on the planet. We are expecting that by 2020 there will be more than 50 billion devices connected to the Internet, disrupting traditional business models and enhancing our everyday lives,” Jesudason said.
“Freestyle Technology shows what Australians can achieve on the world stage. With operations now in Australia, China, Taiwan and South Korea and soon to expand further into Asian and European markets, Freestyle is set to become a serious player in the global IoT market.”
While Freestyle Technology deploys its technology in Asia and Europe, the hardware and software engineering team are based in Melbourne and they’re committed to ensuring local high level tech jobs stay in Australia.
“With its highly-skilled multi-cultural people resources, Victoria is the hub of our global ambitions.
“To date, we have invested more than $45 million in developing our innovative IoT solutions and customer base in Asia. We project adding more than 150 high-tech jobs and generating exports in excess of $200 million in the next few years,” he added.
