Telecommunications company, BT, has inked a partnership with Cloud computing company, Salesforce. As per the agreement, the partnership will allow its corporate customers to connect directly to Salesforce through BT Cloud Connect, BT’s connectivity to Cloud services.

BT Global Services vice-president of network services, Keith Langridge, said the agreement marks an important milestone in the delivery of BT’s Cloud of Clouds vision, which is about allowing customers to connect easily and securely to the applications and data they need, regardless of where they’re hosted and where they are based.

“As a Cloud service integrator, we help customers move confidently and successfully along their Cloud journey whilst minimising the complexity, risk and cost; to give them a choice of roadmaps that work for their organisation, in a way that will deliver the results they need.

“We manage the whole process from network to Cloud, we deal with third parties, deliver performance and security and simplify pricing, all under a single Service Level Agreement,” Langridge said.

BT’s Cloud of Clouds vision is based on a new generation of Cloud services that allow large organisations around the world to connect easily and securely to the applications and the data they need, independently of where they are hosted.

BT’s global network is connected to more than 200 datacentres, including 48 BT-owned and operated datacentres.

“Our vision for a Cloud of Clouds makes it easier for organisations to embrace the Cloud by providing direct, secure and high performance connectivity to the applications hosted in the Cloud. Salesforce is an organisation born of the Cloud – a true pioneer of the technology – so this is an important milestone in the delivery of our vision,” he added.

Salesforce UK and Ireland managing director, Andrew Lawson, claimed organisations look to the Cloud to help them manage and access the vast amounts of valuable data they hold, including the crucial customer data at the core of their business.

“Companies are transforming the way they connect with customers, partners and employees to thrive in today’s connected world. BT is accelerating this shift for its customers with the addition of Salesforce to its Cloud of Clouds vision,” Lawson added.

The service will be rolled out incrementally from February, first in the US and Europe, and globally thereafter.
