Telstra stays Australians can now turn their car into a high-speed hotspot after the launch of its Pre- Paid 4GX Car Wi-Fi.

The new gadget simply plugs into a car’s USB slot or 12 volt power outlet to create a Wi-Fi hotspot that can connect up to five compatible Wi-Fi devices.

Capable of the fastest 4G speeds in Australia when in 4GX areas, Telstra GM of Emerging Mobile Devices, Nick Broomfield, said the Car Wi-Fi product gives customers a flexible and reliable way to connect to the company's road-trip network when in coverage areas.

“With coverage across more than 2.4 million square kilometres of land, this product will help Aussies connect to the Telstra Mobile network in more places when they’re travelling. And because it moves so easily from car to home, it’s ideal for families, weekend adventurers and business travellers as well,” he said.

Unlike other Car Wi-Fi products, the gadget also comes with an AC wall charger,and a USB extension cable.

Available in store and online for $79, it also has 3GB data preloaded and a 30-day expiry period to use in Australia.

Customers can also recharge their device with the telco's recently launched Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband Data Passes.
