GFI Software has appointed David Dann as its new general manager, Asia Pacific.
In this role he will leads a new team focused on the delivery of affordable and easy-to-use IT solutions for businesses to discover, manage and secure their networks, according to a company statement.
Based at GFI Software's regional headquarters in Adelaide, Dann was previously Financial Controller – Asia Pacific for the company. He is now has overall responsibility for all aspects of GFI Software's regional operations, including sales, support, marketing, administration and finance.
GFI Software provides web and mail security, archiving, fax, networking and security software to businesses and government organisations.
A channel-focused company, GFI Software has thousands of partners worldwide and an extensive channel network in Australia and New Zealand.
One of Dann's main goals in his new position is increasing awareness of how GFI Software's solutions can ease the task and reduce the cost of common IT challenges across a range of industry and government sectors.
Dann said many businesses would face challenges dealing with email security, Web filtering, software vulnerabilities and compliance.
"We want to demonstrate how easy it can be to meet their IT challenges," he said.
"So instead of panicking about their security and their compliance, they can put their IT systems on cruise control."
Dann said GFI Software's participation at the Local Government IT Conference late last year had been very valuable.
He said the company would also work closely this year with industry associations such as Law Societies and Chambers of Commerce to educate their members.
"Organisations often have email, fax or physical mail communications that are not properly captured, secured or archived," he said.
"We want to show them how GFI's integrated messaging and IT security solutions can increase efficiency, reduce costs and ultimately let them do more with less."
Prior to joining GFI Software in 2006, Dann was Financial Controller for Imagination Games.
He also worked as Financial Controller for UBI World TV and was Manager of Finance & IT for Global Television.
