Nexenta joins Australian university procurement list

Bluechip Infotech software-defined storage vendor listed on CAUDIT

Software-defined storage company, Nexenta, has been listed on the Australian unversity technology procurement panel (CAUDIT).

The Council of Australian University Directors of Information Technology is an incorporated entity with membership drawn from the IT Directors/Chief Information Officers of higher education institutions in Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and Papua New Guinea.

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), and the Australian Institute of Marine Science are also members.

It negotiates collective procurement agreements, provides professional development, undertakes projects and fosters collaboration through the sharing of ideas, experiences and best practice amongst its members.

The listing is the catalyst for Nexenta, distributed by Bluechip Infotech, to break into the Australian tertiary education sector.

Bluechip director of enterprise, Phil Lancaster, said the education market was a classic benefactor of software-defined storage, "allowing them to minimise their cost of owning and managing storage through hardware independence and license transportability.”

Nexenta general manager, Asia Pacific, Anthony Davis, it was an extremely appropriate storage solution for the Higher Education sector, particularly for research data storage.

"Nexenta is working closely with CAUDIT and Bluechip to ensure that storage for higher education is both economic and highly scalable,” he said.

Nexenta’s Partner Program has a tiered structure and offers incentives; training and benefits that help Partners provide their customers with the best affordable storage solutions.
