Big Data specialist Contexti has appointed former National Australia Bank head of product support, Darren Klein, as its new chief operating officer.
Klein will lead the operations of the Big Data platform services company as it attempts to expand its business and will assume responsibility for the company’s operations and services.
Contexti architects, implements and manages Big Data platforms that support advanced analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Digital Enterprise.
The Big Data Platform-as-a-Service solutions support all Hadoop distributions, and are flexible with on-premise, hosted, public or private Cloud deployments.
Value-add services include training and consulting in Hadoop, NoSQL, data science and architecture.
Contexti founder and chief executive, Sidney Minassian, said, having sat on both sides of the table, Darren brought valuable leadership and experience to Contexti.
“He has led service providers to deliver enterprise transformation, as well as leading internal teams to uplift revenue and product delivery capability.”
As well as working at NAB Klein has held technology, transformation and sales leadership roles at KPMG Consulting, ANZ Bank, Rothschild, Investec and Westpac.
According to a company statement, during his time at NAB, Klein led a number of data initiatives working with global tier 1 vendors, internal technology teams and business units to improve operational efficiency, speed-to-market of new products and enhance the bank’s Dodd Frank compliance.
Klein said the Contexti had captured a unique and critical niche in the Big Data platform services market.
