D-Link has promoted Graeme Reardon to Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) managing director, leaving Jacky Chang to focus on serving as A/NZ and South-East Asia regional president rather than filling both roles.
Reardon will continue to report to Chang.
Reardon's promotion comes 13 months after his return to D-Link as A/NZ regional director; he first joined the company in 2000 but left in late 2004 for rival and networking giant, Cisco.
After nearly five years as Cisco consumer business group regional director, Reardon moved to join Australian distributor, Multimedia Technology, where he worked on both state and national levels over a period of more than three years.
Commenting on his new role, Reardon said, "D-Link has an invigorated team, has expanded and enhanced its product portfolio, programs and service levels... and partners are responding."
"Yet we have only just started this adventure. Expect more from D-Link over the coming months in terms of support and profit opportunities for partners, and new and exciting products and solutions for our customers and business customers."
Reardon's return and subsequent promotion marks the most recent phase of a couple of significant executive shifts at the company's local business in the past 13 months.
On April 10, 2013, former D-Link Australia managing director, Domenic Torre, stepped down from his post after 14 years with the company, claiming his role in the company has been shrunk.
According to Torre, he was overseeing many departments – splitting his focus across the consumer and retail space, the commercial side of the business, surveillance side of the business, service provider end of the business, alongside running local operations including logistics, marketing and product management.
“The role that I played at D-link was quite diverse. The business was becoming more complex and it was addressing many markets. My role was stretched quite thin and I did as much as I felt I could do,” he said.
Torre's departure was not abrupt; he had been contemplating the idea for "some time."
Chang was appointed to replace Torre as a result, giving him two roles within the company, and bringing him to the Sydney office from Taiwan.
