Industry veteran, Fred King, has joined distributor Avnet Technology Solutions.
In his newly created post as a business unit manager, King will be responsible for the distributor’s business units, focusing on fostering vendor relationships.
He will report directly to Avnet’s general distribution manager, Greg Newham.
“We’ve got multiple units around the different vendors with business development people, all of those people will report into Fred,” Newham said. “It’s really capitalising on his experience and also a lot of the contacts that he has. It’s Fred’s job to make sure we’re getting the right leverage across all the different vendors that we’ve got.”
Newham said King’s extensive vendor experience presented a great opportunity for Avnet to leverage and capitalise on its vendor relationships.
“We’ve got so many different vendors that we’re now representing, so it’s important that we have the right structure in place,” he said.
Prior to joining Avnet, King was previously VMware’s partner director and left the role less than 12 months later.
He was also previously the technology and alliances manager at Oracle. He has also held various executive and director roles with Hyperion, SalesDzine, Crystal Decisions, Seagate Software and Digital Equipment Corporation.
