Spill-resistant ThinkPad X1
Lenovo has launched its latest ThinkPad X1 laptop in Australia. And to prove its resilience the company tried to trash it by both pouring water and standing on it.
It is the thinnest ThinkPad so far, measuring less than 17mm and runs on the second generation Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors.
Thinkpad XI uses the Enhanced Experience 2.0 for Windows 7, for quicker and easier startup and shutdown.
The laptop has a 13.3-inch Superbright Infinity LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass, which makes it durable, rigid and scratch proof.
Weighing less than 1.7kg, the laptop charges two-and-a-half times faster than a typical ThinkPad battery (80 per cent in 30 minutes).
Consumers can also opt to buy an external battery that doubles battery life to 10 hours.
“The ThinkPad X1 is equipped with non-traditional business features like Dolby Hone Theater sound, an updated keyboard and a bright, durable screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass that delivers enterprise-level security, manageability and durability,” Lenovo A/NZ Think product group manager, David Heyworth, said.
In keeping with the ThinkPad tradition, the keyboard features spill resistance and also has a backlight.
The laptop is equipped with Instant Resume so customers can manage a seamless, active wireless connection in Wi-Fi or mobile broadband mode, when closing the laptop or when it goes into hibernation mode.
It also boasts an optional mobile broadband, 720p camera, Intel vPro technology and a fingerprint reader.
The ThinkPad X1 laptop will be available locally from May 17 and pricing for the models start at around $1959.
