IDC believes that the interest in desktop virtualisation is justified given the promised improvements in manageability, security, power efficiency, and availability that a virtualised desktop environment can provide.
If the limitations are addressed, then we expect there will be a viable opportunity for organisations to effectively apply the technology to a significant amount of their user base. It is likely that organisation will have to adopt multiple desktop virtualisation models in order to centralise the desktops of diverse users.
