Skilled channel players keenly sought

Skilled resellers are highly sought after by IT recruitment agencies, according to IT employment portal JOBNET, currently celebrating its fifth birthday.

Last week JOBNET had more than 23,500 job listings, including 8131 jobs for Web developers and 1974 jobs for systems integrators.

A dot-com company helping match job seekers with jobs, JOBNET doesn't cut recruitment agencies out of the picture, instead centralising job postings from 430 recruitment agencies in Australia.

"We don't deal directly with the corporates," explained Andrew Kitchen, JOBNET's chief operating officer. "We think there's a big place for recruitment agencies to value add. We are basically a technological hub for the recruitment industry to acquire candidates more cheaply than print."More robust systemJOBNET runs on an Oracle database PLSQL and the company is currently migrating the system from NT to Unix, in an effort to create a more robust system.

Job seekers can search via certain parameters, including position, skills and location, and Kitchen says the site gets 1,500,000 page impressions per month.

Not just a job board, JOBNET also provides application service provider (ASP) services to recruitment agencies, including adding search capabilities to their Web sites, as well as e-mail alerts.

The company also licenses its software to recruitment agencies and other (non-IT) job Web sites.

"The business model is expanding," Kitchen said. "Five years ago we were just a job board, now we have Internet software licensing as well."
