Synnex and Alibaba Cloud have struck a deal that sees the cloud provider’s solutions integrated into the Synnex Cloud marketplace hub in Australia and New Zealand.
Under the arrangement, partners will be able to access Alibaba Cloud’s portfolio of public cloud and hybrid cloud products and solutions via the distributor’s marketplace.
Over the next several months, Alibaba Cloud and Synnex will run a number of joint programs to provide channel resellers in the local region with insight into the potential benefits of the new offering and how it complements Synnex’s existing portfolio.
As part of the deal, Alibaba Cloud will provide local Synnex partners with a range of enablement activities, such as webinars, lunch-and-learn workshops, certification and networking sessions, to gain deep knowledge of the solutions that will be accessible via the Synnex Cloud marketplace.
According to Synnex Australia and New Zealand CEO Kee Ong, the partnership with Alibaba Cloud will streamline the process for Synnex’s local partners to “effectively procure and configure solutions for clients”.

For Alibaba Cloud Australia and New Zealand general manager Raymond Ma, partnering with Synnex gives the cloud provider the ability to provide its offering to local organisations from sectors such as e-commerce, fintech, and media and entertainment, helping them to “speed up their overseas expansion and to enhance their digital transformation capabilities”.
“Our partnership with Synnex gives reseller partners the opportunity to experience our latest technology and access to our well-established, global ecosystem,” Ma said.
The deal comes just over a year after Westcon-Comstor was appointed as a distributor for Alibaba Cloud across Australia and New Zealand.
That agreement, announced in August 2018, spans the entirety of Asia Pacific and is designed to provide additional choice for the channel in the highly competitive cloud space, while also offering a new route to regional markets for local partners.
“The addition of Alibaba Cloud provides us with a strong regional cloud vendor to support our Asia business, and provides a gateway into Asia for our Australia and New Zealand partners,” Darryl Grauman, vice president of global cloud strategy at Westcon-Comstor, said at the time.
