Deloitte Australia has acquired Australian workforce management and human resources consultancy firm Presence of IT, taking on the company's founders, executive leadership team and employees.

Established in Sydney in 1999 as a specialist human resources (HR) and payroll technology supplier, Presence of IT provides process improvement, software implementation and support services in human capital management to both private and public sector organisations.

The company is an SAP, Oracle, and Kronos partner, supplying SAP HR/payroll consulting services and Oracle human capital management (HCM) solutions, among other offerings, to customers in multiple regions.

While Presence of IT maintains headquarters in Sydney, it has offices throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and across the Asia Pacific region.

Deloitte Australia claims that the deal to acquire Presence of IT is the largest consulting transaction it has ever completed in the local market. Over 300 people from Presence of IT will join Deloitte’s Australian Consulting practice and a further 300 will join other Deloitte offices across Asia Pacific and the United States.

According to Presence of IT co-CEO, Shane Grobler, the company has previously worked together with Deloitte on large-scale HR transformation programs for clients, with “great success”.

“We know and appreciate one another’s strengths; we share similar cultures and a common commitment to help our people and clients excel,” Grobler said. “We are both focused on building a truly engaging talent experience for those connected to our firms, to innovating the way we do things and striving for ongoing excellence.

“This is a story of two strong teams coming together to ignite exponential advantage, where the sum is truly greater than its parts,” he said.

For Deloitte Australia CEO Richard Deutsch, the acquisition represents a “fantastic regional and global opportunity” for Deloitte, particularly in Australia.

“Joining forces with the team from Presence of IT makes us the undisputed leaders in human capital consulting, enhancing our ability to provide our clients with unrivalled value, scale and world-class expertise,” said Deutsch, “in turn giving them peace of mind that their people strategy is in safe hands. Together, we will be able to take advantage of significant market opportunity.”

At the same time, Deloitte’s Asia Pacific Consulting lead Adam Powick suggests that the combination of the two organisations in the region will provide end customers across Asia Pacific with access to an “unrivalled, world class team of human capital management experts”.

“I am really excited to welcome the team from Presence of IT to Deloitte. Presence of IT is an organisation we have worked with and alongside for many years and we have always greatly admired the quality of their people and the work they deliver for clients,” Powick said.

The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
