Phishing and awareness training specialist KnowBe4 has become the latest US cyber security vendor to stamp a footprint on Australian and New Zealand soil.

The Florida-based company has opened a regional headquarters in Melbourne under the leadership of former Optus Business and Telstra executive Karina Mansfield.

“Opening a new office in Melbourne is a strategic move to expand KnowBe4’s global footprint in a new region,” Mansfield said.

“We look forward to setting up roots in Melbourne to contribute to the tech community and broader economy.”

According to a company blog post, Mansfield has more than 20 years of experience in leadership positions within sales, marketing and technology, serving most recently as state director for Optus Business in Victoria and Tasmania.

Before that, she spent 14 years at Telstra, acting as general manager for the Victoria and Tasmania government business during her final two.

“Karina is an accomplished, results-driven, c-level executive who comes to us with a wealth of experience in sales, marketing and technology,” said Stu Sjouwerman, KnowBe4 CEO. “The Australian market is rife with opportunity when it comes to security awareness training and she will be a vital member of the team in this new area of the world for KnowBe4.”

Founded in 2010, KnowBe4 provides security awareness training and a simulated phishing platform to allegedly 25,000 customers worldwide.

The vendor has offices in the UK, The Netherlands and Singapore and operates a global channel partner program encompassing managed services and manages security services providers, as well as resellers.

KnowBe4 joins a fleet of global cyber security vendors to hit the Australian market in the last few months, including Pcysys, ShadowLens and TriSecOps.
