Cyber security vendor Vectra AI has poached its second Telstra talent in five months in the form of new channel chief Dee Clinton.

The telco’s former APAC general manager for strategy and partnerships will be responsible for building the vendor’s regional channel following its recent launch in Sydney.

The move coincides with the appointment of Vectra’s first Australia and New Zealand partners, Adelaide-based SecureWare and Wellington’s InPhySec respectively.

Clinton follows fellow Telstra executive Kevin Vanhalen, who now heads up Vectra APAC having served as the telco’s head of strategy and operations for global security solutions

She will be responsible for building Vectra’s channel network and “deepening relationships” with system integrators, consultancies and managed service providers.

Before joining Telstra, Clinton spent more than 10 years at Dimension Data -- now NTT --, mirroring a similar trajectory as Vanhalen, who previously spent 16 years there.

“We have been delighted by the reception to our regional launch in August and the interest from partners and distributors who have identified the need for network threat visibility in the market,” said Clinton.

“We want to partner with organisations that can address our customers challenges including analyst workload, increased regulations, and the overall lack of threat visibility in the cloud.”

Based in San Jose, Vectra’s signature product is its Cognito platform, an AI threat detection and response service for the cloud.

Vectra’s recent arrival in Sydney follows the closure of USD$100 million Series E funding round. As well as the A/NZ partners, Vectra signed Singapore-based Netpoleon as its APAC distributor.
