To help fulfil demand for cloud professionals, RMIT Online has teamed up with the AWS Academy to introduce two cloud computing courses, AWS Cloud Practitioner and AWS Cloud Architect.
The six-week online courses aim to provide students with mentoring opportunities from companies such as AWS premier partner Versent and AWS advanced partner Intellify.
Specifically, AWS Cloud Practitioner is an entry-level course for business and technology professionals intended to help learners prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam, and also serves an introduction to the fundamentals of cloud computing, AWS services, and broader cloud-related business considerations.
AWS Cloud Architect is for tech professionals who seek to design, prepare and optimise cloud computing environments to deliver business outcomes.
The course is claimed to offer deeper insights into the AWS ecosystem, preparing technology professionals to understand and utilise the tools and services available to achieve optimised cloud outcomes.
As students complete the course, they will receive an RMIT credential and the option to sit for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate exam.
Both courses include hands-on lab and project work for students to directly work with computing resources and capabilities of AWS.
RMIT Online CEO Helen Souness said it was a positive continuation of the university’s approach to creating academic and industry credentialed courses to fill the demand for skills that businesses are after.
“Cloud computing is continuing to revolutionise how businesses across Australia operate and how their employees work," she said. "By offering these industry-developed and certified courses we hope to help bridge gaps that companies across Australia might be facing to ensure they are cloud-ready."
Additionally, RMIT Online had made some key appointments to its team including Professor Claire Macken who will lead its Future Learning arm. Macken was formerly KPMG's Director of Education and was previously, Apple's A/NZ specialist for Industry Higher Education Solutions.
Narelle Stefanac has also joined as RMIT Online’s new growth director, having previously worked for LinkedIn.
