NBN Co has more than 10 million homes and businesses ready to connect to the National Broadband Network (NBN).
According to NBN Co this is a "major milestone" which comes with less than 12 months of the build remaining and 1.7 million premises to go.
The 10 million mark was achieved in June and it represents the number of homes and businesses that can order a plan via a phone and internet provider and connect to the NBN access network.
NBN Co had initially planned to have 11.05 million premises ready by the end of financial 2019, a number later adjusted down to 9.7 million.
By the end of the 2019 financial year there were 5.5 million premises connected.
Last week NBN Co connected more than a thousand premises to the network every working hour, according to minister for communications, cyber safety and the arts Paul Fletcher.
