Datacom has been selected by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to provide end user computing and managed services.

The contract was awarded on 11 July and is estimated at $21 million.

The deal will go for an initial period of four years, running until July 2023 but has four optional extensions of 12 months each, possibly extending it to 2027.

Datacom will be in charge of the supply and installation of desktop, laptop, tablet, and associated peripherals; supply and maintenance of a ICT hardware swap pool at either the supplier's premises or a supplier nominated storage location.

The contract also covers managed services including but not limited to ICT hardware life-cycle management, the introduction of new technologies and innovation, plus ICT professional services consisting of innovation, management services advice and project management services.

Software and as-a-service options are not included initially but may be required in the future which would result in the contract being amended.

The $21 million deal also does not include system integration, telecommunication services or training.
