Capgemini is the latest firm to open a security operations centre (SOC) in Melbourne to help meet increased customer demand.
The consultancy firm said the SOC will provide Australian customers a well-rounded portfolio of cyber security services to accelerate transformation.
The SOC is set to help clients drive business differentiation, innovation, transformation and operational efficiency across their organisations while protecting data, assets, identities and overall customer trust.
It also offers clients a "broader set of capabilities" to address the fast-growing areas of digital strategy, cloud, artificial intelligence, customer experience innovation and other emerging technologies.
"Our connected network of SOCs provides clients end-to-end services through a proven model that leverages the latest cloud security to better predict, prevent, detect and respond to threats," said Geert van der Linden, executive vice president and cyber security business lead at Capgemini.
"By leveraging different delivery models globally, our clients have the flexibility to scale the services they need based on their business ambitions, while maintaining consistent and reliable security configurations to protect their data."
The company currently owns and operates 14 SOCs, including satellite ones, around the world, in locations including India, Europe and the US.
The news follows EY's launch of its first custom-built cyber security centre in Melbourne, deemed as its largest facility in the Asia Pacific region. This is EY's first facility of this scale in Australia, the consultancy also has a lab in Sydney that only focuses on the red team “attacking”.
The 233 square metre centre will accommodate 40 EY cyber security professionals that will provide intelligent automated services such as a triage incident response service, threat protection and virtual hunting capabilities, with all data remaining in Australia.
On and off-shore teams will also be on hand to provide 24/7 managed services that will be made up of EY consultants and cyber security teams.
In February, NTT Security re-launched its SOC in Sydney. The new space was designed and built to meet the protected national security classification and has 49 seats and a nine seat secure SOC, an area for analysts that need to be physically segregated from NTT's commercial SOC.
NTT Security, which is part of the NTT Group that includes Dimension Data, NTT Communications and NTT Data, operates 10 SOCs across six continents and has been updating and expanding its SOCs in Asia Pacific.
