Modular data centre operator and builder Data Exchange Network has brought its telecommunication Cross-Connect modules across to its colocation data centre based in Sydney.

The Cross Connect Modules, which are designed and built in its Perth factory, aims to provide customers with the ability to link to data communication carriers, cloud service providers and between colocation centres in Sydney and Melbourne.

The modules pre-fabrication enables pre-provisioning of fibre to every rack from the start. The soft provisioning element allows customers to have instant access to the internet and any cloud service in Australia.

“Data Exchange is striving to simplify the on-boarding challenge by making it fast and simple for a customer to take up space in a rack and connect to any cloud or carrier they choose," said Peter Christie, CEO and co-founder at Data Exchange.

"We call it a ‘cloud ready’ data centre and it will revolutionise the way customers consume rack space."

Managed communication services available within the data centre, enables customers to dial-up bandwidth between Sydney and Melbourne, and into the points-of-presence of all the major cloud service providers and global telecommunications companies, the company said.

The Data Exchange Network is currently developing a pipeline of data centres in Australia and Asia throughout 2019 and 2020.

In September, it achieved Tier Ready III Certification for its modular data centre system by US-headquartered Uptime Institute which covers facilities worldwide for design, construction, management and operations.

The accreditation means that it conforms to the same stringent criteria and standards as the traditional big-box colocation data centres in Australia.

Publicly-listed Data Exchange Network is also on course to achieve Tier-IV Tier Ready certification, making it the second operator in Australia and the fifth globally, to have achieve this certification level.
