Tech Data inks A/NZ distribution deal with Lightspeed Systems

Lightspeed Systems provides integrated solutions for K-12 school networks

Partners servicing the education sector in Australia and New Zealand will now have access to Lightspeed Systems’ portfolio of school-focused technology solutions via Tech Data, with the two companies inking a distribution deal in the local market.

Lightspeed Systems provides integrated solutions for K-12 school networks, including a web filter, mobile manager, a management bundle for Windows, and relay for Chrome. The vendor is partnered with 6,500 districts in the United States and 25,000 schools around the world.

Tech Data revealed on 22 March it had signed a new agreement with the education technology provider for distribution in the Australian and New Zealand markets. The agreement sees Tech Data offer the vendor’s portfolio of school IT solutions.

“Lightspeed is a powerful addition to our solutions portfolio, enhancing our offering in the education space,” Tech Data A/NZ country general manager, Wendy O’Keeffe, said.  “The education sector can present some great opportunities as IT spending continues to increase to keep environments technologically relevant and counter security threats.

“Tech Data partners can now leverage Lightspeed’s customisable and scalable solutions to drive profitable opportunities within this market,” she said.

Tech Data made an education play in August last year, when it became an authorised reseller of VMware’s education services in Australia, New Zealand and India.

The extended partnership saw Tech Data, then known as Tech Data Technology Solutions, resell VMware’s portfolio of technical courses and certifications to partners and their clients.

“Tech Data Technology Solutions is constantly finding new ways to make innovative technology solutions more accessible for our partners, and education plays a critical role in this,” Tech Data vice president, marketing, education and supplier management, Asia Pacific, Michael Costigan, said at the time.

“Through this extended partnership with VMware our partners can now not only enhance their own skills and capabilities, but they can also uncover new revenue streams by selling these courses to their end users,” he said.
