NTT Data Business Solutions takes mining manufacturer to the cloud

Claims to be first Western Australia deployment of SAP S/4HANA Cloud

NTT Data Business Solutions has won a deal to deploy SAP S/4HANA Cloud for mining player, Geographe Enterprises.

Based in Western Australia, Geographe Enterprises designs, manufactures and enhances new mining replacement parts for mining equipment.

Geographe has been a SAP customer since 2001 and started working with NTT Data in 2011. According to NTT Data, Geographe is creating a stable and efficient operating environment.

NTT Data, an end-to-end digital technology business provider, is working for a “fast deployment” with expectations to go live in early 2018. It is claimed Geographe will be the first customer in Western Australia, and the first manufacturing customer in Australia and New Zealand, to deploy SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

“The move to SAP S/4HANA Cloud from SAP ERP on-premise will provide greater flexibility, real-time analytics and broader scope of functionality at a low operating cost,” NTT DATA Business Solutions managing director Australia, Nick Binns, said.

Geographe has worked in the past few years in order to transform its business systems, in order to allow for the company to operate more efficiently as it scales.

“With SAP S/4HANA Cloud we hope to build on the success we’ve seen to date. This is an exciting opportunity for us to add value for our customers and further transform our user experience,” Geographe Enterprises CEO, Sam Hyder, said.

SAP Australia and New Zealand general manager for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Vince Randall, said that Geographe’s adoption of SAP S/4HANA Cloud helps provide a low-risk, fast-to-market platform on which it can transform its operations and adopt a continuous innovation mindset.

“Cloud ERP is seeing tremendous momentum in the Australian market. And with support from leading SAP partners such as NTT DATA, organisations like Geographe can continue to innovate for the benefit of their customers with intelligent ERP. It is an exciting time for SAP and its partner ecosystem, and we look forward to working with Geographe to fuel continued growth and success.”

NTT Data has recently announced the Australian leadership restructure, which saw Binns appointed the company’s first local managing director. Previously, Chris Treston, former CEO with the company had the managing director responsibilities.

Other appointments include Kim Benito, who was previously Episerver’s APAC head of customer success and professional services, has been appointed general manager of client services.

And Yoichi Omae has been appointed as senior director of business operations, after 26 years at NTT DATA. He will be based in Sydney and will help the executive team drive operational performance improvements that to benefit customers in the Australian market.

NTT Data Business Solutions is part of the NTT Group, which is led by NTT Corporation and has six major subgroups including NTT Communications, Dimension Data and NTT Data.
