IT services provider, Dynamic Business Technologies, has saved two dermatology clinics from a three day outage with Datto SIRIS back-up appliance.
The two Newcastle-based clinics, Lotus Dermatology and Coco Skin Laser health, share premises in the city centre and employ more than 20 people together.
The clinics rely on its systems to manage appointments and store patient records for both operational and regulatory requirements.
A faulty motherboard shut down its fairly new Dell server, and Dynamic Business Technologies was able to bring both clinics’ systems running by accessing their records kept on Datto SIRIS.
According to Coco Skin Laser Health marketing manager, Joe Relic, a failure such as the one experienced could have taken both businesses offline for days.
“When our server’s mainboard failed, business was put on hold until the back-up system came online, which happened the same day," Relic said.
"Dynamic Business Technologies not only kept us online and running via the Datto back-up appliance, which they had recommended and supplied, but they also managed the entire warranty support process with Dell.
“Both Lotus Dermatology and Coco Skin Laser Health worked locally off the Datto appliance for three days while Dell replaced the server motherboard and then migrated it back into production.”
Relic said the clinics estimated saved cost of downtime was $354,000.
“Despite what could have been a substantial loss to both businesses, we didn’t miss a beat and no data was lost,” Relic said.
“Dynamic and Datto also kept us running on another occasion when we discovered locked files on our server after a cryptovirus infected it.
"We phoned Dynamic who restored our files immediately. Without them, it would have taken a lot of time and effort to recover our files. By backing up so frequently, the Datto system equips a business to recover its files even if a problem occurs."
