Dick Smith, the retailer that ceased trading on May 3 as a result of financial difficulty, has been relaunched in the A/NZ market as an online-only retailer.
Australian pure-play online retail website, Kogan.com, which acquired the Dick Smith online business in March 2016, has made live the dicksmith.com.au and dicksmith.com.nz website domains.
Kogan.com and Dick Smith executive director, David Shafer, said the relaunch is one month ahead of schedule and the all-new design is a fully responsive website for a great shopping experience on any device, and a platform that leverages the existing operations and logistics infrastructure of the Kogan.com business.
“The efficiency with which we have been able to relaunch Dick Smith is the same efficiency that will see us delivery product and price leadership into the future,” he said.
“We are extremely proud of the speed with which we were able to relaunch the Dick Smith online business, with a leading website, product range, and back-end systems to power the operation. According to Shafer, Dick Smith’s recent history has been disappointing for many Australians, but the company will work hard to restore the faith Australians have put in the Dick Smith brand for almost 50 years.
