The NSW Government has established an advisory board to provide strategic advice and support for its Data Analytics Centre (DAC).
The board involves nine members and will be chaired by ASX CIO, Tim Thurman with Dr Ian Oppermann officially taking up the CEO post. He has been acting in this role since late 2015.
The DAC was established in August, aiming to facilitate data sharing between agencies.
“The board will advise government on priorities and the key partnerships across industry, government and research sectors that should be forged to ensure outcomes are delivered,” Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation, Victor Dominello, said.
“Tim’s experience and expertise at the ASX, where he is overseeing the implementation of a $50 million digital strategy, will assist the government with the digitising of service delivery and implementation of whole-of-government innovation priorities.”
The board members include NSW chief scientist and engineer, Mary O’Kane; NSW customer service commissioner, Michael Pratt; University of Sydney director of the centre for translational data science, Professor Hugh Durrant-Whyte; Vice chancellor and president of UTS, Attila Brungs; Google A/NZ head of geospatial, Paul Cousins; UNSW deputy director of business analytics and data governance, Kate Carruthers; Fishburners general manager, Murray Hurps; Stone and Chalk CEO, Alex Scandurra; and Westpac Group head of innovation, Ian Hill.
