Mobile and online billing software provider, SmartTrans Holdings Limited (ASX: SMA) has appointed Mark Vaile as non-executive chairman.
Vaile will be replacing Geoff Raby, who stepped down from the role. Vaile's appointment is effective from April 4.
Vaile said he will bring extensive experience to the role, having held several ministerial positions during his political career within a global commerce environment, including that of former deputy prime minister and trade minister, where he was involved in negotiating the US-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Since retiring from political life, Vaile sits on the boards of Virgin Australia, Whitehaven Coal and Servcorp.
SmartTrans said as it plans on expanding into e-commerce billing solutions and looks to explore new markets in South East Asia, Vaile can assist SmartTrans to take its business to the next level with his leadership skills and previous experience in the field.
“I am very excited to be taking up this role and look forward to working with the Board and management team of SmartTrans to take the company to the next stages of maturity and development,” Vaile said.
“I also take the opportunity to acknowledge Geoff Raby for this hard work and dedication in building SmartTrans into the successful operation that it is today, with an established business division in Australia and now a dynamic and growing business in China,” he added.
