ForgeRock launches enhanced identity management platform

Offers industry-first continual, contextual identity assessment

Identity management company, ForgeRock, has introduced a new enhanced version of its ForgeRock Identity Platform offering what it describes as the industry’s first identity management platform to continuously and contextually assess the authenticity of users, devices and IoT.

ForgeRock chief executive, Mike Ellis, said organisations, particularly those in the retail, healthcare and financial services industries, want an identity management platform that can aid them in providing their customers with highly personalised and convenient digital services faster than competitors.

“With the recent growth of the IoT and the shifting regulatory environment, it’s also paramount that organisations are able to secure and meet demand for greater control of customer data,” he said.

“By leveraging our new platform, ForgeRock customers are able to build trusted digital relationships with their customers as well as address legal requirements for user consent.”

Built on privacy-by-consent principles, the platform is also the first identity of its kind to fully implement the User-Managed Access (UMA) standard.

The revamped platform offers continuous and contextual assessment of identity. The program allows the user to proactively delegate and revoke data access to others. It also enables consent to data access that was requested and to deny requested access, to monitor data access they have consented to over time, and to adjust that access upwards and downwards.

The company said the ForgeRock Identity Platform’s new universal authorisation capability makes it possible to secure IoT devices. Universal authorisation can be used to enable a hotel room to be unlocked with the guest’s phone, for example.

The platform features User-Managed Access (UMA), a new standard featuring a group of capabilities to selectively share, control, authorise and revoke access to data. ForgeRock is the first identity management platform vendor to include a full implementation of the UMA standard.
