Technology-driven business solutions company, Infosys, has opened the new Infosys delivery centre in Parramatta, where the company will provide digitally-enabled finance, accounting, and human resources back-office services to more than 6000 NSW public servants.
Minister for finance, services and property, Dominic Perrottet, and member for Parramatta, Geoff Lee, inaugurated the launch.
Perrottet said the opening marked an important milestone in the transition of back-office services away from legacy government provider ServiceFirst, to a scalable, adaptive, technologically enabled future.
“The NSW Government is committed to driving innovation and efficiency, and encouraging business investment to support the local economy, and this partnership with Infosys ticks all the boxes,” he said.
“This centre will be the engine room that not only gives our public servants the modern technology tools they need to work effectively, but also delivers tens of millions in efficiency savings for NSW taxpayers.”
Infosys will initially provide the back-office service – under the “GovConnectNSW” brand – to the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation, Service NSW, the Department of Premier and Cabinet, the Public Service Commission, NSW Treasury and the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.
The company said, in a statement, that budget savings over the initial six-year arrangement are estimated at $13.4 million, with ongoing annual savings of up to $19.5 million in subsequent years.
Lee said the centre would provide yet another foundation for jobs growth in the West, with 65 local positions already, and the potential for up to 200.
“With companies like Infosys investing in Sydney’s west, it just goes to show the wealth of talent and infrastructure the region has to offer. As the population of Western Sydney continues to grow, it’s great to see the NSW Government providing more opportunities to work closer to home,” he said.
GovConnectNSW services delivered from the centre will go live from December 14, with ServiceFirst to cease operations shortly after. An additional facility run by Unisys is set to open in Rhodes in early 2016.
