Dimension Data wins contract for new Queensland Gov office

Will provide an array of networking, infrastructure and collaboration services for the new 45-floor facility

Dimension Data has won a contract to provide a range of networking, infrastructure and collaboration services for the Queensland Government’s new offices at 1 William St in Brisbane's CBD.

Financial terms of the deal haven’t been disclosed.

The new 120,000sqm, 45-floor facility will open next year, containing more than 5400 public servants and representatives from most government agencies.

The range of ICT services will support and enable mobile working, giving employees access to government information and applications and real-time video collaboration that will be delivered as-a-service from Dimension Data’s Cloud infrastructure.

It will also provide secure wired and wireless networking, follow-me printing and imaging, video conferencing and team collaboration platforms, and support services.

The technology will allow employees across 39 floors, to achieve greater cross-agency collaboration, mobility, flexibility and provide for cost-effective common ICT services.

“Rather than adhering to the old-world model of purchasing and operating IT internally, the Government has embraced a consumption model, where it only pays for the services it uses,” Dimension Data CEO, Rod Cunico, said. “This not only dramatically reduces the total cost of ownership of its IT infrastructure, but also ensures thousands of public servants can work smarter and collaborate more effectively.”

Implementation will be completed in July.
