Akamai Technologies launches One Start-up Program
Content Delivery Network (CDN) services company, Akamai Technologies, has launched its Akamai One Start-up Program in Asia-Pacific and Japan.
According to the company, the Akamai One program was designed to empower start-ups within the region to focus on growing their businesses without worrying about the complexity of delivering online experiences for their users.
As part of the program, Akamai has partnered with incubators including BlueChilli in Australia to help start-ups by providing products and resources that allow them to focus on their core business goals.
Akamai Technologies Asia-Pacific and Japan senior vice-president and general manager, Sanjay Singh, said the partnership celebrates the alignment of Akamai and the incubators’ pursuit of entrepreneurship and innovation while navigating the challenges and opportunities through a fast, reliable and secure Internet.
The program will make available Akamai’s Web and mobile performance solutions to start-ups in sectors such as travel, eCommerce, high tech and digital media. Under the program, independent start-ups and accelerators can leverage Akamai’s services and technologies for a year with no integration or recurring costs.
Singh claimed the expanding startup landscape in Asia-Pacific and Japan has captured $US9.4 billion in venture capital funding across a total of 436 investments in in the first quarter of 2015, signaling a need for a secure, reliable and productive Cloud environment to do business to compete and stand apart from the competition.
“Startups need to focus on innovating and bringing their product to market as quickly as possible in order to succeed and continue to secure funding to expand and grow. Now, start-ups can scale their Internet operations rapidly without having to invest in infrastructure,” he said.
