Equinix wins Frost and Sullivan Green Innovation Leadership Award

Recognised for the second year running

Global interconnection and Datacentre company, Equinix, has been awarded the 2015 Asia Pacific Data Centre Green Innovation Leadership Award by Frost and Sullivan, for the second year running.

The analyst firm said Equinix was specifically recognised for its continued focus on designing and managing industry leading green Datacentres across APAC.

Frost and Sullivan said an example of this was the retrofitting of its SG1 International Business Exchange (IBX) Datacentre with a granular temperature control system that has improved the facilities power usage effectiveness (PUE).

According to the analyst firm, Equinix achieved savings of more than 8 million kilowatt hours of energy between 2012 and 2014.

Equinix Asia Pacific president, Samuel Lee, said the company was the first colocation provider to deliver a snapshot of its energy demand and related greenhouse footprint as well as its electricity supply mix at a regional level via the company’s Green Web Portal.

“We constantly evaluate the energy efficiency of our Datacentres and are quick to adopt proven energy-saving technologies and techniques on a global scale. This award not only validates this approach, but also reinforces our commitment to putting all of our Datacentres on an aggressive path for efficiency improvements,” he said.

Frost and Sullivan Asia Pacific energy and environmental practice senior analyst, Adwaith Visveswaran, said the company has deployed some of the most innovative green technologies that meet energy efficient requirements in all of Equinix’s IBX facilities in the APAC region, .

In its eighth consecutive year, the Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Best Practices Awards recognise companies across industries commending their diligence, commitment, and innovative business strategies required to advance in the global marketplace.
