Technology services company, Readify, has acquired data analytics company, Huegin Consulting. This acquisition marks Readify's second buy-out in 12 months as the company continues on its path to become Australia’s first development, design and data powerhouse.

Readify managing director, Graeme Strange, said the buy-out of Huegin Consulting was possible as a result of reserves from an earlier $7 million capital raise, which also funded a strategic partnership with brand and user experience design agency, Folk, late last year.

Huegin’s team is based in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, focusing on engineering, mathematics, analytics and data science. It will integrate with Readify's existing data analyst team.

Strange indicated the acquisition readies the company to become a “holistic innovation house”.

“What Readify is now calling the ‘holy trinity’ - the best software development, beautiful design and meaningful data - is in line with the company’s view that we live in a technology-driven, Big Data economy where Silicon Valley rivals Wall Street for influence.

“We want to be the organisation that powers the next TaskRabbit or Airbnb,” Strange said.

Strange said software is useless unless it’s intuitive enough for people to want to use it. He added that collecting data is pointless unless businesses can make sense of it and use it to change their world.

“Technology is no longer about system administrators and business analysts, and technology companies that continue to behave like yesterday's service providers will be gone in five years,” he added.

Huegin Consulting director, Darryl Walker, said the deal would provide customers with an end-to-end solution in the era of Big Data.

“The Cloud and the Internet of Things give us access to an unprecedented amount of data. Applying analytics to this data is key to extracting useful insights and inferences. There are great synergies in the work we and Readify do.

“The deal will see us solve more complex problems to help customers make more informed business decisions,” Walker added.
