Network connectivity, datacentre facilities and Cloud services provider, Nextgen Group, has partnered with Sydney Teleport Services (STS), in an attempt to change the landscape of live high-quality broadcasts in the media and entertainment sector, particularly major sporting events in both domestic and international markets.

The partnership will see Nextgen deliver an ultra-high capacity network with complementary datacentre services for STS’s live broadcast transmission services over satellite and fixed-line data links.

The agreement includes both traditional live broadcast services as well as efficient and agile connectivity options for sporting and non-sporting broadcast events, short-term production runs or long-term permanent broadcast connections using Nextgen’s 20,000Km fibre network.

The agreement also allows STS to offer more advanced capabilities and interconnectivity with major Cloud platforms to support growing over-the-top content (OTT) services for its new and existing client base.

STS will manage the Nextgen video network for broadcast transmissions of multiple sporting events from 17 stadiums around the country, enabled by Nextgen inter-capital fibre network.

In addition, as a result of the partnership, STS will have full access to Nextgen Group's 100Gbps core-enabled network into more than 90 datacentres across Australia, its metro access network and the company’s full product suite.

“This agreement allows Sydney Teleport to supply a full service offering to its clients comprised of broadcast content, high-quality connectivity, coupled with flexible carrier-grade, on-demand bandwidth and Cloud services,” Nextgen Wholesale, general manager, James Veness, said.

STS managing director, Scott Jenkins, said the company chose Nextgen as its national infrastructure partner because of its network footprint, which supports quality live video carriage and provides flexibility to deliver and fulfil all broadcast media traffic requirements into the future.

“Nextgen has a very strong, proven track record in delivering a robust and secure network throughout Australia. We look forward to building this relationship further and securing more opportunities well into the future,” he added.
